The analyses presented here are based on data representing a diverse group of mainly 18- and 19-year-old college students. The study was conducted in February and March of 2007 at the University of Illinois, Chicago, which is a U. S. The average survey completion time was approximately 30 minutes. The survey included detailed questions about respondents’ Internet uses (e. g. , experience, types of sites visited, and online activities) and their demographic background. Basic demographic information was measured using standard modes of operationalization. Students were asked their year of birth, and this information was used to calculate their age, which is included in the models as a continuous variable. Male is the base gender category (male = 0, female = 1). Information about race and ethnicity was collected using the U. S. Census Bureau (2000) questionnaire format, and dummy variables are used in the statistical model, with White as the omitted category. Consistent with work by others, parental education was used as a measure of socioeconomic status (e. g. , Carlson, Uppal, Prosser, 2000; Lamborn, Mounts, Steinberg, Dornbusch, 1991; Stice, Cameron, Hayward, Taylor, Killen, 1999). Since asking about household income has limited utility with such an age group (both because students do not know their parents’ income and because those who live in dorms may not know how to interpret â€Å"household†), and since educational level is constant in this group (every respondent is in the first year of college), parental schooling is a helpful measure. This information is included in the model as dummy variables, with some college education (but no college degree) as the base. Both the question about living at home with parents and the question about having access to the Internet at a friend’s or family member’s house is included as a dummy variable, where 1 signals yes to that question, and 0 stands for no. Finally, figures for both hours spent online per week and number of years a respondent has been an Internet user are logged in the analyses, given that an additional hour or year, respectively, likely has diminishing returns as the values increase. The analyses first consider only the core background characteristics of the user (age, gender, race and ethnicity, parental education). Then, a second model includes information about context and experience with use supplementing the core demographic variables. Brutus was compassionate when referring to how he loved Caesar as much as Caesars friends of his speech. Brutus was showing compassion on lines 18 20 where he said, If there be any in this assembly, any dear friend of Caesars, to him I say that Brutuss love to Caesar was no less than his. Brutus said this to help the people understand the sorrow he felt inside about the killing of his friend, although he felt bad he doesnt regret his actions as shown on lines 21-22, where he said, I weep for him, but I rejoice for Rome, so this is telling us that he does feel sorrow, but it was necessary for Rome. Anthony uses a different method, he doesnt simply persuade he also used sarcasm and irony (as mentioned previously) with that he says, Brutus says Caesar was ambitious, yet Brutus is an honourable man. Anthony doesnt actually say anything bad about the conspirators until he knew the crowd was with him because he knew that saying dreadful things about Brutus would result in the crowd turning against him. The other major factor in Anthony winning was bringing the body of Caesar in; so Anthony used both physical and mental means in getting the crowd. Another physical thing he used was Caesars will; that was the key in keeping the crowd listening, it was like bait to them. The language used varied considerably, Anthony used words that dug at the Plebeians emotions, and Brutus used words to convince them that he was truly a lover of Rome. What Anthony had to do was praise the conspirators first, because they were the new Caesar in their eyes, and then explain to the crowd what they had done wrong, and each thing that they had done, would have sounded awful, so this in turn led them to go on Anthonys side; as was mentioned before Anthonys entrance is key, because he stirs their emotions when he brings Caesar in, this effectively builds him a strong base on which to build his speech, and this praise for the conspirators is a strong foundation, as if he was to jump straight into the condemning of Brutus, his house would collapse, in this case he would be mobbed by the Plebs and the conspirators would have won. As mentioned before the prop that Anthony uses is a vital one; the prop is Caesars dead bleeding body, which immediately has an emotional effect on the crowd, but they take pity on Caesar, they dont go onto his side immediately as they now believe that Brutus is the new Caesar. I like his work because its very classic, memorable and simple. His work is landmark. I did this because it gave me inspiration, an influence and it offered a look at how previous designers worked. I did web searches on the images connected to different faculties and just asked people what images came to mind when I said a faculty name this provided me with many logo ideas. In addition I looked at existing logo designs in books wherein designers explored many different techniques, which I could use in my designs. I had many specifications that determined what my final design would look like. * Such as my target group, which was the staff, pupils and parents because of this I had to select designs that satisfy and do not displease them. * In my specification I had a running theme or image that I worked around; a smart, scholastic, classic yet modern image and I tried to portray this in my designs. Aluminum companies have been at the forefront of environmental progress and effort in the minerals industry. Aluminum is not the cleanest metal to produce, and it is often found in ecologically significant regions. However, the undaunted aluminum industry has managed to do its part for the environment, and continually improve its own efficiency. Azom.com notes that, since bauxite is chiefly found in tropical or subtropical areas, mines are often associated with the rain forest. In truth, only about 6% of the world's current bauxite production takes place in rain forest regions, "affecting a total area of around 1.5 km2 per year" (azom.com). Bauxite mines are almost always of the open-cast type, so they have a wide impact on the land area above them. Even so, 80% of bauxite mines on forestland are eventually returned to forest, the rest "replaced by agriculture, commercial forest, or recreational area, thereby making the area more productive for the local community"; what's more, the "rain forests in particular" are "almost totally reverted back to rain forest" (azom.com). Most companies min ing bauxite remove the fertile top soil separately from the rest of the overburden, so that it can reapplied to assure maximum usefulness of the reclaimed land. When Lincoln was elected President in 1861 South Carolina seceded followed by 6 other sates, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. Four other states threatened to secede as well. Then a month after the 7 seceded they formed a Government. Later on March 4th when Lincoln was elected he said that he didn’t want to take away slavery from the states that already had slavery existing and common in their state. He also said that he would not deal or except secession either. Fort Sumter started the Civil war. When they got there South Carolina feared a trick, so they said they would take the supplies then surrender, but his offer was not taken, and thats when the first shot was fired. April 12, 1861 the Civil War had begun. On January 27th, 1862 Lincoln allowed the Union to launch unified aggressive action against the Confederacy. January 1863 Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation that freed the slaves in the states that were still in rebellion on January 1st 1863. The Gettysburg Battlefield was dedicated as a national cemetery, this was a huge war. Over 54 thousand soldiers were killed. The south wasn’t strong enough, and the North succeeded. On April 7th 1865 General Grant called upon General Lee to surrender. Lee sent home his troops and the Civil War ended. Many battles were fought and the Union won over the Confederate. On April 14th President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. John was obsessed with avenging the Confederate defeat.
